Cedar Rapids. Day 1

So after nearly one full day of 'dealing' with airports and flying, Jason and I arrived in Cedar Rapids last night at about 7:45. I use the term 'dealing' as my polite way of saying that we had the most hectic day I've ever experienced while in Chicago after they delayed our flight to Cedar Rapids from 7:15 to 12:45, then finally telling us that they in fact decided to cancel the flight due to "weather". Again, I use quotations because although they decided to cancel our flight due to the freezing fog that was engulfing Cedar Rapids all morning, they let 4 other flights continue on their merry way, while us folks on the canceled flight were simply put on stand by and told GOOD LUCK! Jason and I went through the stand-by list for two other flights until finally snagging a last minute seat on a 5:45 flight, FINALLY! Other than that debacle, our experience flying from San Diego to San Fran, and San Fran to Chicago, were flawless.

Jason, enjoying some reading time. 5 hours of reading time!

So we arrived at our current destination: Cedar Rapids. The weather: foggy, rainy, cold, and fantastic! I love the cold! Compared to the cozy 70 degrees back home in sunny San Diego, this is real weather to me. It says that tomorrow (Saturday) will bring snow showers. Even if it just turns out to be rain, that brings joy to me!

Today we went driving around, which was a ton of fun. We found the local Czech Villiage, which is amazing. From my mom's side of the family, my ancestors immigrated from Czechoslovakia. So needless to say, before next Wed., we are visiting said village!

To those who know me, they know my LOVE for Mucha's work.
Which is why finding this street art made me so excited :D
Jason enjoying the new driving weather!
We discovered Super Target today! Whoa!

A park next to the village

So tomorrow, well later today that is, Jason and I will be off exploring more of the city, if weather permits. If not, looks like it will be a movie and near by diner day :)
